Swim Practice Policies

Show up to practice on time and ready to practice!

On time means early.  Swimmers should be ready to practice at their assigned time. They should have sunscreen applied, have a cap, two pairs of goggles, and a suit. Bring water bottle, towel, sunscreen, and bug spray. Swimmers with hair below their ears must wear caps for all practices.

Swimmers will be sharing lanes and will be expected to adhere to lane etiquette for safety reasons.

Swimmers are expected to be attentive to the coaches' instructions and behave appropriately during practice. Coaches have the discretion to remove the swimmer from practice if the swimmer is behaving in an unsafe manner or inappropriately.

Parents may stay during practices but are not allowed to be seated or standing on the pool deck. Parents should drop their swimmer at the back gate and can remain in the grassy area of the pool property.

The baby pool and the playground will not be open during morning practice.  Younger siblings can play in the grassy area but must be supervised at all times by a parent or care giver.

Piranhas practice in the Rain!

We practice in the rain.  In the event of thunder or lightening, a detemination will be made to delay or cancel practice. If a practice will be delayed or canceled, updates will be communicated through Chat and Email.

Zero Tolerance for Bullying & Unsportsmanlike Conduct

Compliance with the NVLS Standards of Conduct is a league rule. A violation of these rules is taken very seriously by the Parklawn Piranhas team and will not be tolerated, and appropriate action will be taken, including suspension from practice or a meet. A violation of the NVSL Standards of Conduct hurts the entire team and could cause the team to lose a meet.

Let’s Earn the Division Sportsmanship Award.

Piranhas Dos:

● Shake hands at the end of the race and tell the other swimmer “good job.”

● Swim their best.

● Cheer each other on to the finish line.

● Help each other and encourage each other to reach for their best time.

● Welcome the opposing team to the pool.

Piranhas DO NOT:

• Call other swimmers too slow.

• Tell other swimmers that they don’t belong on the team because they don’t know how to swim.

• Tell other swimmers that we lost the meet because they are too slow or DQ’d.

• Tell the opposing team that they are bad swimmers, that the Piranhas will crush them in the water, etc.

This is UNACCEPTABLE behavior.
