Announcing our 4th annual Piranha-thon!
Hello Piranhas!
Announcing our 4th annual Piranha-thon!
On Tuesday, June 9, the Parklawn Piranhas will hold our annual Piranha-thon team fundraiser. This is our biggest fundraising event of the year, and we need your help to make it a success again in 2026!
During the Piranha-thon, every swimmer will complete as many laps (1 lap= 25m) as they can during their normal practice time while you, their families and friends, will pledge to support them for each lap completed.
Time to start finding pledges! Between now and June 9, ask family, friends, and loved ones if they are willing to pledge and how much they are willing to donate per lap (or a flat fee donation). We will send a google form soon to help you record and keep track of each pledge fulfilled. Please SAVE THE DATE & start sharing this fun event with anyone else who wants to support your Piranha.
Since this is a Piranha-thon and not just a normal practice, there will be prizes! We will be celebrating the swimmers (per each age group) with: (1) the biggest number of pledges fulfilled, (2) the most laps swum, and (3) the most improvement over last year. That means a total of 3 prizes per age group!
Additionally, there will be a special prize for the Girl and Boy that raise the most in donations through the Piranha-thon. Finally, the age group that has the highest percentage of participants, will win a special social event just for their age group!
100% of the money raised during the Piranha-thon supports the Piranha Boosters Club (a separate 501(c)(3) organization). The Boosters pay for equipment & meet fees, subsidize our swim caps, team suits, Friday night socials, Progressive dinner, Viking dinner, and more. Additionally, last year the Boosters funded a scholarship for a graduating senior in honor of a beloved Piranha: Dr. Carl Smearman.
And as a special bonus, there will be cold treats at practice on Piranha-thon day, plus we have it on good authority that our team announcer will recognize Piranha-thon achievements throughout the season, highlighting the swimmers’ accomplishments!
Let’s go Piranhas!

PS: Our goal is to have every Piranha participate as a fundraiser and as a competitor. Swimmers of all ages and skill levels will amaze themselves with how far they can swim, and it’s all for a great cause!
