Please Note: Our summer coaches were impressed by the quality of the swimmers that came out of our Winter Program. These swimmers filled as many A meet lanes as our club swimmers, they made Divisionals, and one even went to All Stars. We have incredible coaches that work to make the kids better. This is a great program and not just kids swimming laps.

The Parklawn Swim Team is offering a weekly swim clinic on Sunday afternoons for swim team families. If you are in the lessons program, please reach out to me prior to registration. Questions can be directed at [email protected] (I will be difficult to reach from 8/3-8/10).

Swim Team Clinic

The focus of this clinic is on stroke development (free, back, breast and fly), turns and starts. We do not focus on endurance work.

Forty-five Minutes to One-hour swim clinic, depending on age group.

Coaches will make the final decision regarding your swimmer’s placement, including practice time and lane assignment.

This is limited to swimmers who were on the 2024 summer swim team.

Our 2024 Junior Piranhas will be placed in either our swim team clinic or our pre-team program, depending on ability.

In the Spring 2025, we plan to add an additional two day conditioning program to our winter swim program to prepare for the summer season (subject to lane and coach availability). This will be for an additional fee and priority will be given to families in our 2024-2025 winter swim program and then to our summer 2024 swimmers.

Pre-Team Clinic

Our pre-team clinic is limited to Parklawn Pool members. Priority will be given to siblings of current swim team families and swimmers in our 2024 Piranha lesson program.

Registered swimmers must commit to joining the team in 2025 (assuming that the swimmer passes the swim team assessment in 2025).

Coaches will make the final decisions on whether any swimmer is ready for our winter swim clinic or the team.

Dates and Location

Clinics start on Sunday, October 13th and end on Sunday, May 18th.

No-Clinic Dates:

12/1 (Thanksgiving weekend), 12/22 (Christmas), 12/29 (New Years), 2/9 (Superbowl Sunday), 4/20(Easter), 5/11 (Mother’s Day)

Clinics will be held between 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoons at the New Minnie Howard Aquatic Complex located at 3801 W Braddock Rd, Alexandria, VA 22302

Clinic placement and times will be announced no later than September 15.

Registration and Fees

The fee is $425.

Registration is First Come, First Served. We are currently accepting registration and payment from swim team families. Registrations are accepted on a rolling basis until capacity has been reached. Priority is given to current swim team families. Please note that we expect to reach capacity very quickly. In prior years, we started a waiting list within days of opening registration.

If you have multiple swimmers registered and would like a payment plan, we will work with you. Please reach out to Caroline Molina.

Important Notes

Fees are non-refundable.

Our schedule & fees include two extra clinics in anticipation of two make-up days for snow days and/or pool facility closures. We do not schedule make-up sessions unless we have three or more cancellations. Cancellations will be announced via Parklawn Piranhas TeamSnap. No individual emails or calls will be made for cancellations or make-up announcements.

Wear swim team gear and bring goggles, kickboard, fins, caps and water bottles to every practice. Pre-team clinic does not need to bring fins.
