Piranhas Weekly News - Week of July 14

Congratulations Parklawn Piranhas!

We did it! Our team won the Division 7 Championship. It’s been a season to remember, full of hard work and team spirit. Coach John emphasized the importance of working together, and every member played an essential role in our season’s success. And it’s not over just yet!

Today, we also won the Todd Potts IM Carnival with many of our team members placing in the top 12 of their age group. Tonight’s zany 12U Viking Dinner was a blast with lots of chaos and raft races. This week, we have our last B meet of the season, Divisionals, and our always-special team banquet. Read on for more details.

Tomorrow Night: Last B Meet of the Season!

Divisionals on Saturday at SHBR Pool

Divisionals will be held Saturday, July 20 at Sleepy Hollow Bath and Racquet. This is not a team-scored meet; swimmers choose their events in order of preference and can swim a total of two events. Our team sends the top two swimmers in each event.

Entries are now closed. Karen will send details, including the entry report and meet details later in the week.

Relay Report!

Our 11-12 girls 100 medley relay showed up strong at NVSL All-Star Relays, placing 6th overall with a time of 1:05.83. Congratulations Charlotte Hill, Alina Kinder, Sarah Fabrizio, and Jessie Snow.

Unfortunately, due to thunderstorms, NVSL had to cancel most of the freestyle relay portion of the meet. That means our awesome 13-14 girls (Amelia Young, Lucy Oliphant, CC Corbett, and Emerson Mancari) didn’t get to dive in and show their stuff. When this happens, teams are awarded based on their seed place. For us, that meant a solid 7th place! Way to go, team!

Congratulations to our 13-14 girls 100 medley relay team (Emerson Mancari, Cami Sonn, CC Corbett, and Amelia Young) for lowering their own team record at Saturday's A Meet to a new record time of 1:03.71!

Team Banquet on Sunday at 6pm

Join us this Sunday for our much-anticipated swim team banquet. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our incredible season and recognize every single swimmer for their hard work and dedication. Each swimmer will be honored, and we’ll relive our favorite moments with the season-ending, smash-hit slideshow. Dinner will be served, so come hungry and ready to cheer on our amazing team. We can’t wait to celebrate together! See who’s coming and RSVP here.

It will take place at Glasgow Middle School (cafeteria), 4101 Fairfax Parkway Alexandria, VA 22312 (just down the road from Parklawn Pool).

A Special Message from the Great Piranha

Please check your email for a special message from the Great Piranha regarding a way we can honor our coaches.

Support Our Boosters

It’s not too late to support the Piranha Power Boosters Club. The Boosters provide essential support to the Parklawn Piranhas Swim and Dive teams and swim lesson program. The funds raised by our Boosters go directly back to the team, helping us buy equipment, supplies, and special items (like our brand-new trophy case!). Every contribution makes a big difference and helps us keep the Piranha spirit alive and strong.

There are individual and family, and business sponsorships available. For more information about the Boosters Club or to get involved, visit here or contact [email protected]. Let’s continue to make our team the best it can be!

That’s all for now!

See you on deck, Piranhas.
