Piranhas Weekly News - Week of July 7
Dear Piranha Families -
Another fantastic week!
We held our 18th annual epic lip sync battle, where our 13-14 boys wowed everyone with their rendition of “I’m Just Ken” and took home the first place honors.
We brought home our fourth WIN of the season in a meet against Dominion Hills. Our 15-18 boys set a new medley record. It was a 1,2,3 finish for our 13-14 girls Lucy Oliphant, Amelia Young, Libby Beck, and Cami Sonn, Miriam Popp, Libby Beck, who swept their Back and Fly events, respectively. We had ZERO DQs from our Piranhas!
We had a beautiful day honoring our seniors, with the Great Piranha making special visits to each of their houses one last time. A special thank you goes out to Nicole Molife who organized all of the details to make our senior meet special.
To top off the week, our 13&O group enjoyed a delightful progressive dinner. Thank you to our wonderful host families: the Molife family, the Schuerfeld family, the Henderson family, the Shea family, and the Cervoni family.
Please remember to RSVP for our end of the season banquet, which will be held on Sunday, July 21 at 6pm. Invitations were sent via email from Evite.
Read on for details about the week ahead.

Friday Night Social
Back by popular demand, we're hosting another evening of outdoor games! 12&U will compete from 5-6 pm, followed by 13&O from 6-7 pm. We need parent volunteers to help with stations, so please let Lara Macdonald know if you can lend a hand.
Last A Meet of the Season
It’s hard to believe it, but this Saturday is our last A Meet of the season. The theme is Mardi Gras! It will be held at Waynewood Pool, 1027 Dalebrook Dr, Alexandria, VA 22308. Please notify Karen of any changes to your swimmer’s availability.
12&U Viking Dinner
Plan to join us Sunday, July 14th from 4:00-5:30 pm at Parklawn for an exciting themed dinner where our 12&U swimmers go wild with food and raft races! We are asking for your help to make it all possible. If your child is planning to attend, please either offer your time and/or to bring food, drink, etc. Please use this link to sign up. Any non-perishable items can be left in the guard house next week in the plastic container labeled "Viking Dinner.”
Check out previous year’s epic races in this video.
Please let Viking Dinner Organizer Anna Colangelo ([email protected]) know if you have any questions.
New Record Holders
Congrats to new record breakers!
- Noah Popp broke two records at the last B Meet, smashing a 20-year-old backstroke record and lowering his own freestyle record.
- Our 15-18 boys (Noah Popp, Joey Liller, Louis Molife, Noah Crozier) broke the 200 medley record at our Saturday meet against Dominion Hills!
Divisional Entries Now Open
Divisional entries are now open. This is not a team-scored meet; swimmers choose their events in order of preference and can swim a total of two events (free, back, breast, fly, and IM). Our team sends the top two swimmers in each event.
An email was sent out this week from Karen with detailed information on how to submit entries. Entries will close Sunday July 14th at 3 pm. If you are not available to attend it is very important that you state that.
Save The Date - Kings Dominion Trip is July 17
We are looking forward to our annual team trip to Kings Dominion and Soak City! The plan is to meet at 10:45 am at the amusement park. We will make a group reservation and each swimmer will be responsible for the cost of his or her own ticket. (The cost is $36.88/person for both amusement and water park, but may decrease slightly based on group tickets purchased). RSVP deadline is July 14 using this link.
