Piranhas Weekly News - Week of May 26

Dear Piranhas Families,

Let’s get this season started! We’ll send a weekly newsletter very Sunday throughout the swim season to share updates for the upcoming week. Each email will contain essential information to keep you well-informed and prepared for a successful season. you can also refer to the attached presentation materials from the parent meeting last week.

We’ll see you on deck!

Suit Up! Summer Practice Begins This Tuesday

Evening practices begin on Tuesday! Check the practice schedule for your swimmer’s practice time. We understand that school and other sports conflicts exist over the next few weeks - no problem! The weather forecast looks good this week, but keep an eye on TeamSnap for all official weather-related cancellations or delays. You can download TeamSnap from your app store. Use the same email address that you used for Swimtopia. Team reps will be on deck Tuesday and Wednesday after 6pm to answer any questions.

Action Items

There are two actions for you to take this week to start the season.

  1. Sign up for Time Trials. Time Trials are June 8 and we are asking you to sign up this week. This meet is for the whole swim team and all swimmers are expected to swim. If your swimmer cannot swim, please reach out to the team rep. Parents are expected to work this meet. Here are instructions on how to sign up for meets or volunteer slots.
  2. Add the 2024 season events to your calendar. The Piranhas calendar on the website is kept up-to-date with the latest details on meets, pep rallies, and social events. You can also subscribe to the calendar to automatically add dates to your Google, Apple, Outlook, Yahoo, or other calendars. Take time this week to add the events to your calendar AND mark your availability for all meets.

Hunger Games Cake Bake - Sunday, June 2 at 3pm

May the best cake win! Join us for our annual Hunger Games Cake Bake, where age groups go head-to-head in a fierce competition for cake decorating bragging rights.  Cakes are provided—just show up to Parklawn Pool and let the decorating games begin! Will your team’s cake be the victor? Remember, in the arena of frosting and sprinkles, only one cake can come out on top! Here's last year's winning team.

Age Group Ambassadors Needed!

We’re looking for Age Group Ambassadors! Age Group Ambassadors serve as a liaison between the team and the parents in the age group - similar to a classroom “room parent.” It is great volunteer opportunity for those who love to communicate, organize, and create fun opportunities for our swimmers. You’ll get to know your child’s teammates and make a real impact. Don’t want to do it alone? Grab a friend and be co-ambassadors! Contact Jessica Skerritt for more information - [email protected]

Coach Kevin Sunday Morning Stroke Clinics

Take your swimming to the next level with Coach Kevin’s Sunday Morning Stroke Clinics! Designed for swimmers who are already legal in all four strokes, this clinic focuses on fine-tuning your technique - and it’s free! Sign up here

Coming Up: Piran-a-thon

Mark your calendars for the Piran-a-thon on June 11th! Stay tuned for pledge information and more details. It’s going to be an exciting event you won’t want to miss!

Upcoming Officials Training

With a team as large as ours, we need the help of all parents to run a successful swim meet. We especially need parents to certify to be NVSL referees, starters, and stroke and turn judges. Certification happens through NVSL University. You can find a list of dates in the attached PDF (page 20). Questions? Contact Katie McGrorey [email protected]

We're looking forward to a fantastic season! We'll see you on Tuesday.
