Piranha News

WE ARE 1-0 IN DIVISION 11. GREAT JOB, PIRANHAS! . . . OUR FIRST HOME A-MEET IS THIS SATURDAY AND OUR MONDAY NIGHT B-MEET IS AT PARKLAWN POOL TOO.

Attached is the meet sheet for our first home A-Meet! Parents, tell your swimmers to race against the clock. If we reach 25 personal bests on Saturday, the team will celebrate with donuts at practice. Don’t forget to make your B-Meet selections by Saturday at 3 PM on Swimtopia.

Four FYIs FOR THIS WEEK: 1) There is a TON going on Friday Laser Tag & Pizza by the Slice – A Piranha favorite is laser tag at the field. Don’t worry about dinner – support the team and have pizza poolside while supplies last! 2) For Home Meets – Just like we did Monday night, Parklawn families should park in the field to accommodate our swim meet opponents who have priority park in the main parking lot. This will enable us to have maximum capacity at minimal congestion. 3) Sign up to volunteer for Meets – If your swimmer is swimming in a meet, one parent from each family is expected to volunteer at the meet: Volunteer. Remember the summer uniform is white on blue – wear a white shirt/top over blue shorts/pants/skirts. If you have any questions, not sure how to volunteer at meets, or have any trouble with Swimtopia, please reach out to Caroline Molina or Karen Corbett. 4) Deadline to sign up for the IM Carnival is Tuesday, June 28. Our team will be competing at the Todd Potts Individual Medley Carnival on July 3. Swimmers who have IM times are eligible to participate. We will seed based on time with a priority going to our seniors. Every swimmer participating must have one parent volunteering.

We encourage all swimmers to stay for the entire meet to help celebrate our amazing Senior Swimmers at the end of the meet (popsicles will be provided).

Lollipop Kickboard Races will be held before the meet starts; arrive by 5:30 PM if you have a little one who would like to participate. Swimmers should seek feedback about their races from Coach Dan, Kevin & John who are on deck.

At this meet, junior piranhas may swim one event and all other swimmers may swim two events (free, back, breast, fly, and IM) if they are eligible. If you are hoping to improve your IM time before the July 3rd IM Carnival, you should swim IM at this meet (assuming the weather cooperates). Coaches decide whether swimmers are eligible to swim back, breast, fly and IM. Swimmers who placed 1st or 2nd in an individual event at Saturday’s A-meet are NOT permitted to swim that stroke at this B-meet. Swimmers must select the strokes that they wish to swim by Saturday at 3 PM on Swimtopia.
